You’d be hard pushed to get anything past Harry Potter fans when it comes to clever plot twists or sneaky character references – as proved by the latest theory about Hermione Granger being mentioned in Beauty and the Beast.
Best known for her long-standing role in the Harry Potter franchise, Emma Watson takes on Belle in the new live-action Disney remake; but some fans think the film is still harking back to her Philosopher’s Stone days for one particular reason.
In this clip of Belle singing and dancing through the streets, she stops to speak to a a villager named Monsieur Jean, before saying (at around 0.25 seconds): “Have you lost something again?”
“Well, I believe I have. Problem is, I can’t remember what”, he replies – which is scarily similar to a conversation Hermione has with Neville Longbottom in the first Harry Potter film.
Fans have pointed out that during a conversation with Watson’s character Hermione Granger, Neville receives a ‘remembrall’ in the post – a magical device to let him know if he’s forgotten something.
“The only problem is,” says Neville, “I can’t remember what I’ve forgotten.”
WHAT. THE. FLUFF.
Whether a crazy coincidence or a seriously clever reference, our minds have been blown a bit.
