Shane McMahon was reported to have left WWE following the Royal Rumble pay-per-view last week. He allegedly received a lot of backstage flak for rescheduling the 30-man Royal Rumble match mainly around himself. Shane reportedly had creative disagreements with Brock Lesnar and Vince McMahon as well. Shane McMahon is no longer in WWE’s plans for WrestleMania 38, but the company has reportedly found a replacement for him.
According to Ringside News, WWE has “already decided” on McMahon’s replacement for WrestleMania 38. According to a source, the relief was chosen “as soon as the decision to send Shane home was made.” It was not stated who was selected to replace the 52-year-old.
It’ll be interesting to see who WWE brings for WrestleMania 38 as part-timers and legends. The Undertaker and Shawn Michaels have retired, and John Cena is unsure. He will be able to compete this year. Goldberg is another option, but his WWE contract expires after the Elimination Chamber match with Roman Reigns on Feb. 19, so the two sides will need to agree on a new contract quickly.
Shane McMahon’s Reported WWE WrestleMania Plans
According to Dave Meltzer, the plan was for Shane McMahon to start a program with Seth Rollins, with a match of the two taking place during WrestleMania 38 weekend. According to Meltzer, Vince canceled plans to include Rollins in the 30-man Royal Rumble match, making Shane “really mad.”
