Fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and Harry Potter have drawn comparisons between the new villain Gorr the God Butcher in Thor: Love and Thunder and Harry Potter’s legendary Lord Voldemort. The first glimpse of Christian Bale as Gorr the God Butcher in the MCU didn’t take long for fans to connect him to Lord Voldemort from the Harry Potter series. Both roles are played by well-known British actors, Bale and Ralph Fiennes, and have also been recognized as a parallel between them. Some Twitter users agreed that Gorr is “hotter” than Voldemort. In contrast, others noted that the live-action version of the classic Thor villain managed to grow a nose, unlike harry potter’s Voldemort, which was a popular joke on the social media site.

In 2012, Gorr appeared for the first time in Thor: God of Thunder #2. Gorr had a difficult upbringing in the comics, leaving him on the verge of famine and death. Even as an adult, Gorr had lost his wife and children, leaving him feeling hopeless and resentful of the cosmos.

After his faith was questioned, he was exiled from his people and forced to live in the desert. During his wanderings, the villain came across a duel between two gods, and one of them requested his assistance. All-Black the Necrosword, Gorr’s weapon of vengeance against Gods who he felt had abandoned him, was used to kill him instead of offering help.
