How I Met Your Mother: 11 Mysteries And Plot Holes Left Unanswered

While the HIMYM story had several plots and twists, we also had a few mysteries and plot holes that left the show hanging. Here are 11 of them.

Not Explaining Tracy’s Relationship With Ted And The Gang

We saw how Ted’s various girlfriends interacted with the gang throughout the series. Karen and Ted got some screen time with the gang, and the story was detailed enough to show how Lily finally ended their relationship. Other girlfriends’ relationships with the gang were explained, including Stella and Ted, Victoria and Ted, and Trudy and Ted.

Patrick’s Day 2008

Season 3, Episode 12, titled ‘No Tomorrow,’ featured St. Patrick’s Day 2008. The gang did not go to the party together, preferring to do their own thing. Robin joined Lily, Marshall, and Ted for a board game night at Marshall and Lily’s new apartment. Barney decided to go all out and wear a green suit while drinking green beer.

Barney And Robin’s Wedding Date

The wedding of Barney and Robin took up the entire ninth season, and it was probably the most explored storyline of the whole season. In season 8, episode 13, Ted stated that the wedding took place on May 25, 2013, which was a Saturday. The actual wedding date left the story hanging and perplexed the fans.

Marshall And Lily Sharing A Toothbrush

Couples sharing toothbrushes is often frowned upon, even though it is not illegal. Some couples brag about sharing their toothbrushes, while others don’t bring one with them when they travel to save space. As a result, this was a crucial subject that could have been covered in the series.

Robin And Nicknames

Robin was a complicated woman with some strict relationship faux pax to some extent. Her stance on the nicknames couples love to give each other was one of them. Despite Ted’s fondness for calling her ‘Schebs’ or ‘Robsie Website,’ Robin despised nicknames directed at her or her beau when they were dating. Ted referred to himself as ‘T-Moz,’ which she despised.

When does Did Barney learn How To Drive?

When Barney Stinson first saw Lily, he thought she was too hot for Marshall to seduce, but he was perplexed when he saw the two kissing as soon as they laid eyes on each other. Barney then followed Marshall for a while, oblivious to the fact that the two were lovers, curious as to what the trick was.

The Pineapple Incident

Ted had a one-night stand with Trudy in season 1, episode 10. Ted blacked out after taking five shots of a drink called ‘The Red Dragon.’ He awoke with a pineapple on his nightstand, a brunette girl in his bed whom he didn’t recognise, and a sprained ankle the next day. This storey had two major plot holes in addition to being juicy.

Robin Getting Scared Of Not Moby’s Gun

Robin was a complex woman with some strict relationship faux pax. Her stance on the nicknames couples love to give each other was one of them. Despite Ted’s fondness for calling her ‘Schebs’ or ‘Robsie Wobsie,’ Robin despised nicknames directed at her or her beau when they were dating. Ted referred to himself as ‘T-Moz,’ which she hated.

Lily’s Dog Allergy

In season 2, episode 2, we saw Lily spending time with Robin in her apartment, and she didn’t appear to be allergic to the dogs. Only three episodes later, in episode 5, Lily moved into a new apartment. Even with a raccoon for a roommate who was kind enough to eat her housewarming gift from Ted and Robin, it was completely uninhabitable!

Where Did Robin’s Girlfriends Go

The writers did a good job portraying Robin as a macho woman who despised being around women. She was, in fact, the girl who enjoyed bar hopping with boys and was, by default. Friends with Lily because she was a member of the gang. During the wedding planning in Season 9, Lily revealed to the gang that Robin had no female friends. Despite this, the writers of HIMYM decided to throw a bachelorette party for the girl who despises girls, which left viewers perplexed.

At Lily and Marshall’s house, the clock is always set to 4:20.

When it was shown in Lily and Marshall’s apartment, the time on the clock was 4:20. If it had been a broken clock, Barney or Robin could have pointed it out. Solving the mystery that became a running gag for fans all over the world.
